Were the Irish here illegally? That's a key point that Biden and his boss seem to think is unimportant. Their lack of concern for the law explains most of their behavior.

This was pre-Wilson - at the time there were no immigration restrictions for Europeans.
There was also no welfare. I’d be thrilled to go back to that - no welfare, no foodstamps.
