There are more Poles honored as “Righteous Gentiles” (meaning that they risked or lost their lives helping Jews) at Yad Vashem in Israel than from any other nation in the world. And, while about 3 million Polish Jews were killed by the Nazis, about 2.2 Polish Catholic civilians were also killed.
In fact Auschwitz was first used to house Polish Catholic political prisoners before it was expanded to start the mass killings of European Jews.
In fact, Hitler planned to have the entire Polish race exterminated by 1975 through sterilization.
Interesting that of all of the Slavic peoples, only Poles were singled out....Why? Because according to Nazi racial theories, Poles intermixed with Germans throughout the centuries thus they had too much Germanic blood that would make them fight back......Which also explains why unlike their Slavic Ukrainian brethren, Poles were never allowed to be camp guards.....The last thing the Nazis wanted to do was to give Poles access to rifles, which they could use to immediately shoot the Germans with.
