Ok, you’ve named one exception that nobody on either side of the debate argues with. What are the thousands of other exceptions that Paul mentions? Or are you uncurious about what those are and where he wants to draw the line?

I think you misunderstand the context in which Rand Paul framed the "thousands of exceptions". His statement was :
"What I would say is that there are thousands of exceptions. I’m a physician and every individual case is going to be different,” Sen. Paul responded. “Everything is going to be particular to that individual case and what is going on that mother and the medical circumstances of that mother."

It appears to me that he is referencing each "individual case" as a potential "exception". With over 100,000 ectopic pregnancies (alone) occurring each year, I believe he as a physician may well be correct in that thousands of valid exceptions could be found in that statistic. With more than 4 million pregnancies in the U.S. each year, we can not expect all to go to term without complication.
