Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday linked the accidental deaths of seven U.S. Marines to sequester spending cuts. All three networks have, thus far, skipped the story. After highlighting the details of the botched training event in Hawthorne, Nevada, the Democrat manipulated the tragedy: "But one of the things in sequester is we cut back in training and maintenance."
Disgraceful.

When I discuss any current issues with those with whom I disagree, I immediately cut off conversation should they cite their source as one of the letter networks.
Quite simply, both the networks, and those that listen to them, are simpletons.

There are words for politicians like Harry Reid. The nicest one that comes to mind is demagogue.

On the other hand, what is the point of him saying this if the media wont report it?
Since the sequester was Obama’s idea, Reid is blaming the deaths on Obama. Not surprised Big Media is ignoring that embarrassment.

This couldn’t possibly have been due to the sequester.
Tragically, in 2001, seven men from the Mortar Platoon, HHC 2-34 Armor died in a similar accident, with a 4.2” mortar, at Fort Irwin, CA, during night fire. This was my former unit. I looked up the names in the paper, and they were all new guys that I had not known; but, I paid particular attention to the story....and I know a bit more than Harry about why mortars blow up...and its kind of personal to me.
Critical task #1: Counting. Every tube has a ‘round count’. Back then we used ‘round count cards’; and, quite frankly, the system lacked alot of precision. BTW, if the Platoon Leaders and Armorers in the military aren’t doing a good job at counting, its not a money problem - its a leadership problem...Sec Def, Barry, all of them, its their command climate.
Critical Task #2: Testing. Once your round count card hits a certain number, you ship the tubes away (I think to Fort Belvoir, VA). They test it ina fashion similar to a cylinder head test, to look for cracks. Then they send it back.
The odds that:
a) The round count on this tube happened to hit its limit at the same time as sequester - very low. The odds that in the few weeks we’ve had sequester, the tubes could be shipped and tested - impossible. The odds that the marines would knowingly fire a ‘test due’ tube, because of ‘budget cuts’ - impossible. BTW, how are they training, if we don’t have enough money to fuel ships or have the band play in a parade?
Its complete BS pulled out of Harry’s backside. He is an opportunistic scum-bag, trying to use a tragedy to push a political agenda....literally ‘standing on the graves’ of dead marines.
I am 100% confident that this did not happen because of ‘maintenance’. F-— off Harry! Somebody hasn’t been counting well, or it was a random disaster. He’s a pile of dirt.
The networks and their newsrooms are dying.

Interesting that they reached this conclusion without regard to facts, review of the findings of the investigation, or any deep understanding of how mortars and their ammunition work. I guess when you are the media, little details don't matter.
Tube failure is but one possibility. The round may have exploded in the tube, rare, but it can happen. Botched training would not be very high on my list of probable causes, but nothing should be ruled out.
Harry Reid is a low life.
Yep, its disgraceful how everybody runs to a microphonr to put their own ‘spin’ on a tragedy.
The message to the MSM SHOULD be that Reid is
nothing but a moonbat. Of course they can’t under-
stand that little factoid because they themselves
are all moonbats.
I’m just stating what such a position would entail for anyone who wanted to take it on.
