Am I the only one annoyed by the increasing dominance of video vs. text communication?

Almost every time I am directed to a video, I ignore it and move on. That is a method of communication for entertainment. If you want to convey information, it should be in writing.

Videos are mostly intended to arouse emotions and negate the opportunity for critical thinking. That’s why why fringe political and religious movements rely on them, sometimes exclusively.

I appreciate your sentiments; however, I believe this medium was chosen for the kiddee cohort that's been voting for Obama and his rats by 2:1 or more since 2008 at least. They have been indoctrinated with anthropogenic global warming with plenty of audio-visual support.

It also helps those with less than optimum visual acuity. They can listen to the audio monologue.
