Missile Defense: The administration beefs up our Alaskan-based interceptors it once downgraded in response to North Korea's threat, while ending the final phase of the Europe-based defense against Iran it once supported.
We welcome the Obama administration's decision to place an additional 14 ground-based interceptors (GBI) at Fort Greely, Alaska, and Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., by 2017, as well as a second TPY-2 phased-array X-band long-range missile defense radar system in Japan following North Korea's deployment of a new road-mobile missile.
We are reminded that if President Obama hadn't scuttled President Bush's plans, these added interceptors would already be in their silos. Obama plans on boosting that force from the current 30 to 44.
The Bush administration had deployed the first GBI at Fort Greely in 2002 and planned on at least 55.
As a candidate, Obama said he wouldn't support "unproven missile defense." He canceled Bush's plans and cut back GBI deployment to the current 30.
The failure to dissuade Pyongyang from advancing its nuclear and missile program through sanctions, concessions and diplomatic pressure, one of many Obama administration foreign policy flops, has led us to the point where North Korea is a serious threat and the White House once again has to change its position.
An administration official said the North Korean missile threat was much less sophisticated when Sen. Obama was running for the White House and those who criticize the change of plans are engaging in "Monday morning quarterbacking."
Well, we have been consistent in supporting missile defense the administration has not and we would suggest the administration has taken its eye off the ball regarding North Korea.

I've said it before ... there should be two sets of evac helicopters for the DC elite ... one to take half to safety and the other set to take those against SDI and drop them at ground zero. The survivors will have little mercy.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I happened to view the NBC evening news with B. Williams (yuk) on Friday night when the Nork breaking threat was the lead story.
It was basically presented as “this is a new serious threat and the Obama administration is doing a wonderful job to counter it.”
Not a word on the previous history. A typical low info voter would applaud the great work of the regime.
obama will go into the new super bunker under the White House that was recently finished.
These evil people must think themselves immune fron the disasters which they are bringing upon us. May they suffer greatly.
Thanks raptor22.

Just about the only thing on which Obama hasn’t “flip-flopped” is his support for our Moslem detractors and outright enemies.
BS. The NK missile threat may have been nascent at that time but they were working aggressive missile and nuclear weapons development programs. These continue to this day, with no reasonable expectation that they will stop.
What the WH isn't admitting is that Mr. ego in there thought it was all about him. He wanted to be contrary. He wanted to energize his anti-Bush base. He probably actually thought he could talk or bribe the NKs into halting their programs. In short, hussein was (and is) a fool.
I would be willing to bet that the 30 existing GBIs are 100% tasked to defend DC. I'll bet NK could launch on any west coast city they wanted and the Air Force or Missile Defense agency or who-ever has their finger on the button(s) would not get release authority to intercept. They'll hold them in reserve in case... But should one NK missile head towards where-ever "the won" is - watch them salvo 3 or 4 at a time at it.
The WH will never admit it but... I wonder who has release authority for the GBIs. I will bet you can count them on the fingers of one hand and have fingers left over to hold a cup of coffee.
You’re right on all counts. obama is a chicken $hit of the first magnitude. His girly man behind is his first priority after wrecking this country.
I wouldn’t lose any sleep if san Francisco or LA got hit hard.
