Regarding the March 14 editorial Reopen the White House doors:

Within an hour, however, the czar returned from the East Wing singing a much different song. Apparently, first lady Nancy Reagan had pointed out that closing the White House reflected badly on the presidency in general and on President Ronald Reagan in particular. More important, the Reagans signaled to their staff that if they had to personally hand out flashlights and give the tours themselves, the tours would continue despite the crisis of sequestration.

THE DECISION to drop White House tours always had a whiff of whats known as Washington Monument syndrome. The ham-handed tactic is employed when government is faced with budget cuts and officials go after the services that are most visible and appreciated by the public. Its a kind of bureaucratic hostage-taking, so the pushback that the Obama administration has encountered is a proper comeuppance.
The White House chef quit when Calvin Coolidge was president because he was so “cheap” and there was no sequester. He just felt that it wasn’t his money to spend on extravagances.
now i get to yell becuz any sentient living thing detests the thot of being ushered into the way of harm and if you dinna beeleeve me i will show you my wifes cat i mean you cant see her cat fer less that $50 but i will show you mine and the point is is that any one with a ration of rationality wouldn’t take their kids anywhere near the white hut or even worse that museum with apollo unless you hate your kids cuz if you show your moslem luving children that man walked on the moon you would destroy their little dreams
