You mean like Reagan? I do not say this to be a jerk but I would like to see the path and the bill before yelling too much.
The whole point of the '86 legislation was to be bring the system back under control so that we wouldn't be in a position where we have 15 - 20 million illegals in the country.
The amnesty was the proverbial sacrifice that had to be made in order to achieve the goal. We were finally going to get serious about enforcement after we had absorbed those millions into the system.
Enforcement simply fell be the wayside as the years went by.
