Here’s a question no one has bothered to ask: what are the odds of a TSA “VIPR” team showing up at a Chicago train station on a Saturday?

From what I’ve read, there are only 37 of these teams across the country. They have been previously spotted at highway checkpoints (such as the “training exercise” along I-20 in Atlanta in 2011, where they were searching all trucks at the height of rush hour) and more recently, at some of the NFL playoff games. They are an asset that seems to deploy only for high-profile events, in response to perceived threats and for training.

I’ll assume that one of the teams is based in the Chicago area. But it’s hard to believe they would be training on a Friday or Saturday evening, given the costs of overtime, comp time, etc. It’s a fair question to ask the real reason behind their deployment and the actual threat they were looking for when this attorney triggered their sensors.

Probably based near some of the bigger hubs as they would make juicier targets.

They called it ‘nuclear’. I’ve had EKGs and regular treadmlls. This one involved an injection and I had to be scanned in some machine like and MRI scan. I knew it was nuclear, but they did not give me any cautions about it.
