COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The chairman of the Ohio Republican Party says the state GOP will continue to stand behind U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, who has announced his support of gay marriage.

Chairman Bob Bennett acknowledged Friday that there would be Republicans who will disagree with Portman's decision. But Bennett said he respects the senator's right to make up his own mind.

"The chairman of the Ohio Republican Party says the state GOP will continue to stand behind U.S. Sen. Rob Portman ..."

That's probably safer than standing in front of him.

Well, it’s official then....for Conservatives, who aren’t supportive of sex deviates, the Republican Party Death Knell is that sound you are hearing in Ohio......

I think Bennett needs to go

He is stepping down on May 31st.

I have no intention of supporting any party that won't oppose same-sex marriage. So, the Ohio GOP better make it clear it opposes perverting what marriage is or I won't be showing up to vote.

Marriage is dead across the board, Portman definition of marriage is in fact the problem.

What you don’t recognize however is that yours is very much the same, that it should be first and foremost love rather than family.

Everyone I tell this rejects this fact because it has been so drilled into us over the last 100 years. But it is indeed this simple misplacement of the idea of marriage that is the root of all the problems surrounding the institution.

Emotional feelings are like sand, they shift, they turn and they give way with the coming and going of the waves of life. If you build your marriage on the foundation of your emotions it is no different then building a house upon a foundation of sand.

Well the Republican party is basically dead because they wont stand for anything, and they have been successfully blacklisted by entire ethic group who now vote for Democrats as slaves to their racial identity, like backs.

In this climate there can be no future for the any republican party, or this land as a free country for that matter. Forming a new party could and by all rights should take a decade or more.

The political parties compete with each other for support from a small, special pool of constituents now, and a profile of the typical individual from that pool has developed for all to see.

When will the rank-n-file tell the party to take a hike?

It’s funny that you said that. I’ve been writing my Congressman and Senators for years and years. (I send them donations on occasion.) What I get back is always something namby-pamby as if my letters were never read for content. The party does not care about little ole me nor my family. They only care about power and their own lined pockets. I’ve had it! I’m done!

You got that right.

Ohio needs a new party Chair and (R) Senator. This clown rode in on the Tea Party wave and, unfortunately, his term isn’t up ‘til 2016.

Rob Portman is a failure as a father, in my opinion.

The chairman of the Ohio Republican Party says the state GOP will continue to stand behind U.S. Sen. Rob Portman,

Probably the safest place to stand if he is anything like his son.

It was a news item on Yahoo.com. However, I was mistaken about Boehner, himself.
