He was let go under federal guidelines the judge followed. In fact the judge imposed some extra conditions that weren’t required, such as the ankle bracelet and curfew. The guy had a clean record before the porn bust too. But I don’t think the judge ordered a psych evaluation.
I think he lived alone — no roommate, single. He used his considerable background in computers to collect 100 gig of child porn over 6 years, and encrypted it all on one drive.
He had a job at a grocery store, working his way up into a management role after starting work there as a teen.
These days values are not taught in schools, religious service attendance is at an all-time low, cable media is filled with profanity, filth, crassness and disrespect, young people are taught to take the entitlement attitude of “what’s yours is mine” by politicians calling for wealth redistribution, children are born into one-parent households more often than ever, marriage is devalued, life is devalued (abortion, assisted suicide, and soon the killing off of old people under Obamacare); etc. etc.
I’ll bet this creep didn’t think all his porn stash was a big deal (see above paragraph), and was frustrated when he was caught and realized just how seriously society treated the crime he committed. He was fired from his job and couldn’t get another. He had no support structure and saw no way out of his predicament. Society didn’t see this guy coming, but I’ll bet there are many more like him; lone sociopaths that will snap when they’re caught with no way out.
