Following NY logic. The police should be banned from carrying guns. And what was the magazine size of their weapons? Did they really need that many rounds of ammunition?
And the good news is - that is a gun that doesn't have to go to a "buy back" and it is off the streets! Added to that, it is one of the banned bad guns - it had a pistol grip!
Based on what I know about riots, the people who participate in them, and the outcome of shootings in our modern era, I can make the easy prediction without any knowledge of what occurred:
Two policemen (maybe African-Amercian, but that will be suppressed as long as possible) were drawn on by a African-American thug life member on a dark street. The Police fired on him and in the process the thug was spun around and received 3 shots to the back.
There will be 1-2 eye-witnesses that will be held up as definitive evidence of wrong-doing, but in the end they will be found to have no credibility or that they were not even present at the time of the shooting.
The rioters have probably been told that it was definitely white cops and that the boy was delivering Girl Scout cookies for his sister. If asked, they will probably tell you that he was a promising Honor’s student.
The average literacy rate of the mob will be somewhere around 20%.
The photo that will be released will be at least 4-5 years old. Portraying the “victim” as a child. The media will adjust the levels of the photo to make him look like a light-skinned black.
The mob will quickly attack any store with a non-black owner while screaming about “racism in the system.” They will probably chant a catchy phrase that was invented 50 years ago by a white over-priveledged wash-out from Harvard.
If Obama comments on the event it will happen very early, before any facts are released, and he will condemn every person who is innocent and raise up any person who is guilty; then wash his hands of it and feed his fat wife.
It will go to trial and the Police will not be prosecuted because of the over-whelming evidence that they did nothing wrong. However, their lives will be ruined and they will be broke.
The rioters will riot again after the verdict and they will make t-shirts with the thug’s face on them. Songs will be written in his honor.
They will absolutely invent a catchy-phrase for the event like the “South Street Massacre.”

Phoenix once had a black, anti-draft riot during World War II. A reporter from The Phoenix Gazette (long defunct) attended, but other than a brief, two sentence, mention in the “truss ads” at the time, the full story went unpublished until the 1970s.
In any event, the blacks in South Phoenix rioted. The response was not made by the police, but the National Guard, who sprayed the asphalt in front of the rioters with .30 caliber, M1919 Browning machine gun fire.
Many were injured by very high speed chunks of asphalt flying at them. Ducking into an alley, the reporter lost the heel of his shoe, knocked off either by asphalt or a ricochet. Because of wartime censorship, not much was said at the time about the event.

They’re just out raising hell and having fun, their version of a good time. Railing against “The Man”. Even though the yoof who was shot was a mini-thug running with the gangstas.
