Phoenix once had a black, anti-draft riot during World War II. A reporter from The Phoenix Gazette (long defunct) attended, but other than a brief, two sentence, mention in the “truss ads” at the time, the full story went unpublished until the 1970s.
In any event, the blacks in South Phoenix rioted. The response was not made by the police, but the National Guard, who sprayed the asphalt in front of the rioters with .30 caliber, M1919 Browning machine gun fire.
Many were injured by very high speed chunks of asphalt flying at them. Ducking into an alley, the reporter lost the heel of his shoe, knocked off either by asphalt or a ricochet. Because of wartime censorship, not much was said at the time about the event.

Based on the pics I’ve seen it was a crappy Rohm RG revolver, which was made in both .38 Special and .357 Mag. I wouldn’t fire one on a triple dog dare with somebody elses hands.
If I ran a store like that, I would acquire a few claymores pointing in at the door from the outside, and a few from the back of the store pointing at the door. Fire one, wait a second or two, then fire the other one.

99/1 odds it’s a single mother. Ever notice that these “witnesses” are rarely men? I never have figured that part out completely.
Possibly currently behind on the rent/mortgage and suddenly will have the home paid off in full once the media dies down. Or a job. Probably just cash in an envelope.
When it goes to trial they will suddenly claim that she couldn’t really see anything. Prosecution will react by saying that their evidence is tight enough that it wouldn’t matter. Witness won’t be called to testify.
Nice. Perhaps if this perp had pulled the trigger before LEO’s could respond the gun would have done more damage to him than anyone else.

The comment may be true? Often the comments reveal more than the article. Seen that plenty of times
Street justice administered by the forces of law and order. In Autobiography of Malcolm X he says all the black guys in the ghetto tried to get out of the draft one way or another. Weren’t gonna fight no damn white man’s war (WW2)
The more things change... The NYC draft riots during the Civil War were mostly Irish opposed to being drafted into “the white man’s army” (rude joke, but appropriate for the times). Then it quickly turned into an anti-black, race, and anti-Protestant, religious riot.
Lincoln, having no sense of humor about these things, sent in the Army fresh from their victory at Gettysburg, seasoned combat veterans with a real sour attitude about draft dodgers. They made short work of the rioters.
They’re just out raising hell and having fun, their version of a good time. Railing against “The Man”. Even though the yoof who was shot was a mini-thug running with the gangstas.
