The countrys largest trade group for drones on Tuesday released a study that says the unmanned vehicle industry could create 70,000 jobs in the United States over the next three years and add $14 billion to the economy.
The Association of Unmanned Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI), which commissioned the study, went one further and predicted the industry could produce more than 100,000 jobs by 2025 with an estimated economic impact of $82 billion.
This is an incredibly exciting time for an industry developing technology that will benefit society, as well as the economy, said Michael Toscano, president & CEO of AUVSI said in a statement.
In recent years, unmanned aircraft technology has grown remarkably and is already proving useful in a range of domestic applications. Integrating UAS into the national airspace will lead to new and expanded uses, which means the creation of quality, high-paying American jobs.
AUVSI has ramped up its lobbying efforts recently in an attempt to push the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to move on a plan that would allow for drones over U.S. skies. The FAA has been mandated by Congress to select test sites to gauge the safety of drone flights, but has yet to do so.
AUVSI hired an in-house lobbying team in 2011.
Just think of the fines that could be levied by gov’t for violations found by drones?
More likely they will be used to target gainfully employed patriots. But hey, I guess that will mean more job openings for Obamao to take credit for.
My freedom is not for sale.
I am not a crook, but I sure don’t want our government staring at me and watching everything I do.
I can see many good lifesaving uses for these drones, but first you have to trust in the government and trust that they will not abuse the privilege. I have no such trust, not anymore..... none.
why not promote 70K jobs from gowing poppies for cocaine
to some populist idiots, including many misguided technology enthusiasts, it does not matter what industry is promoting that Americans should spend more of their earnings on them and their goods, just tell them that spending their money, on anything, all principles ignored, is worth it ‘cause it “creates jobs”

Another 30 IQ elitist ape who thinks he’s superman.
“Why would they need to fly drones in American airspace?”
Because Dianne Feinstein says “Hunting humans is legal”. I believe this is Obama’s favorite sport and he looks forward to hunting American humans in America in the near future.....
In the industry....
This is part of an overall increase in surveillance.
The RIOT software application also increases surveillance on the web.

Why not? Maybe civilians would want to monitor the monitors.
