Appearing on CNN's The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer on March 11, Mark Kelly said he planned from the start to hand over an AR-15 rifle he purchased to the Tuscon Police Department.
Blitzer then quoted a section from the March 9 Breitbart News story on Kelly's purchase, and asked Kelly to respond.
Here's what Blitzer read:
Breitbart News then began investigating the details surrounding the purchase, including visiting the gun store. Suddenly, Kelly announced on his Facebook page that he was not going to keep the AR-15, which he has yet to pick up from the store.
Kelly responded that he went into the gun store with a plan to buy a .45, "and if we had the opportunity, to buy the AR-15 as well." He said he didn't "know the timing," but he and his people "had a plan for when [they] were going to announce it on Facebook."
Attention to this issue has been intense, because Kelly bought the AR-15 on March 5 but did not announce that he was turning it over to Tucson PD until three days later.

THAT MAN IS A LIAR! But he is just emulating his Messiabama.
Frankly, I agree.
This “gentleman” did not spend several hundreds of dollars just run into a sheriff’s office and breathlessly give the item away.
No chance!
He and his wife must be sitting on a pile of money, to purchase a rifle just to give it to the police department. So, I guess his goal is to buy up every rifle he can get his hands on and then just turn them over so they can be destroyed, i think.
He must have some deep deep pockets.
Whatever he may once have been, this turd has become a dishonest, dishonourable, mean, nasty, vindictive attention whore.
You beat me to it! :O
Regardless of what these cretins really believe, Mark Kelly is a hypocrite. Being a hypocrite, by definition, does not require a person to have any certain belief system.
He became....
John McCain?
John Glenn?
OK
Both, actually, among others.
Kind of hard to believe him when he also bought multiple magazines to go with it. He should have bought some ammo as well to turn in.
Yep, forgot about Glenn, not Kerry though.
I’m not convinced Jawn Effin’ Kerry ever was anything other than a dishonest, dishonourable, mean, nasty, vindictive attention whore.
Not that I want to get hit by either, but if I had to choose, I'd take a .223 round before I'd want to get hit by a .45
I find this story very weird and even more.
If some nut job shot up my wife for no reason and she happened to survive, I'd have every bit of weaponry available to me that I could afford in case another nut job decided to finish it off.
I see nothing wrong with him having an AR-15, but he apparently sees something wrong with me having one. Hell, I'd be in favor of giving him Claymores for his front yard if he wanted then.
I suspect he has signed up with some anti-gun outfit (the "my people" part of his comment) to play some publicity game. I hope they are paying him well.
A retired astronaut's pension is not high enough to blow money on expensive weapons like AR-15s just to send a message.
I think this was a 'Brady' ad campaign killed in the womb. The PR folks have to go back to the drawing board now and find some other prop for their propaganda.
Jeah, FKing Liar!
You weren’t going to spend some $1,500 bucks and piss it down a drain for an idiotic PR campaign.
Admit it, loser.
You bought it because you enjoy guns and loud noises.
Duplicitous Plick...
DiFi still carries...
I was just going to amend my post, Kerry was always a POS.
