NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Monday is the last day New Yorkers will be able to buysuper-sized sugary drinks in New York City.
The cola crackdown goes into effect on Tuesday. The new regulation puts a 16-ounce limit on sugary drinks sold at city restaurants, movie theaters, sports venues and street carts and applies to both bottled and fountain drinks.

Maybe the stores can offer a “two for the price of one” deal on the smaller ones. ;-)
Then again, they’ll probably make it like Pseudafed and only allow you to buy so much, and then only after showing ID.
Hmmm. Maybe they could do that at liquor stores and bars - only be allowed to sell those little sample bottles.
And you can only buy five gallons of gas at a time so you don’t drive too much. Man, This nany state stuff is fun! I wanna be governor!!
Seriously, how is this possibly legal under the Constitution? Will Starbucks challenge this?
What have we become in this country that the government now tell us what size drink they may purchase. This is insane, but I’m sure NYers will reelect Bloomberg again and again, just like Jesse Jackson Jr.
Most fast food places and convience stores have self serve stations. So does this mean that since diet sodas are not in the ban, that the regualr soda will have to be ordered behind the counter?
Can I still get my 96 ounce cola if it's SUGAR FREE?

This is just so silly and stupid.
If I want to have a 16 ounce drink I just take my own cup buy 2 8 ounce drinks and pour in one cup.
What are they going to have police going around arresting people that are carryng 16 ounce cups???
Starbucks is challenging this. They are refusing to comply with the regulation, at least until their hearing is over.
;->
Yes. No ban on large amounts of aspartame.
Realistically, probably not. My understanding is that if the business has a self-service drink station that has both diet and sugar drinks, then the largest cup size allowable by nanny Bloomberg is 16oz.
However, if the self-service drink station is diet-only, then they can have larger cup sizes. (For now - all our liberties have an expiration date, you know...)
There was a report on local tv about shop owners who have stores and stores of the bigger bottles that they cannot sell. What a ridiculous little man.
I just found out yesterday that this extends to coffee shops. When this was debated, coffee shops were never discussed.
So not only is it onerous, it’s deception.
Bring coffee shops into it. Who exactly is going to be obese at drinks that cost $5.00 half full of ice?
The concept is good public awareness. Like the iron lung images in the 1960’s. (Remember the cigarette pack coupons? Then the “Laugh In” gag of the guy in the iron lung saying he paid for it using Raleigh coupons?)
But to actully make an enforceble law?
If I were a restaurant owner, there’s be a sign for free unlimited refills on the front door.
Why can't they sell them if the nutritional label says 2 or more servings?
I know a sheriff who went into a convenience store to buy two six packs of beer. The clerk told him the 12 pack was cheaper. The sheriff said he didn't think he could drink 12 beers so bought the two six packs. True story. Morons get elected time and time again.
Or that you found the critical loophole in the law.
Easy solution - buy two.
Those cartoon pics of insane globalist British kings comes to mind... That’s their homo, Bloomers.
If Bloomers is so worried about public health, why does he leave the bath houses of NYC open?
He’s an amoral blooming idiot - a shining example of America’s elitists.
