The average age of first employment with the US government for civilian employees is 35. Take that any way you want.

Does that include schedule A? You could also add that military veterans have preference. That should tick some people off.

Truth is, gov is a place to go if you have no real motivation to do much. Punch the clock - 40 hours per week.

Never found that to be the case ~ more like 60 hours on a slow week ~ fur shur we never got off on MLK day ~ that's right at operating budget time, and with our shop, putting out a new set of postal rates (with rules).

If you're speaking of state, county and city governments, all those people ~ including the cops, consider it a hard day when the nearest doughnut shop runs out of french crurlers.
