t's being reported that Adele and Beyonce have been booked to rock The White House on Michelle Obama's 50th birthday. That should be some party . . .
It's hard to believe that the politics of the sequester have worked out the way the Obama administration intended. Even their usually-reliable friends in the media have been skeptical, as this report from ABC News demonstrates:
Budget Cuts Shut Down White House Tours
Jonathan Karl concluded the report by noting that the President took a 20-car motorcade to travel a short distance to eat with Republicans -- and suggested that next time he save money by eating at home.
It seems to me that it's time that Republicans pointed out the many, many ways The White House could manage to reallocate funds to allow the American people to visit their White House. The President and Mrs. Obama have enjoyed to the fullest every perquisite of their rank; with that enjoyment should come some scrutiny, especially in a time when regular tourists are being told that there simply isn't a dime to spare on something for them, the taxpayers who subsidize it all.
I guess it’s good to be royal
LOL
Closing the WH to citizens is a purely spiteful act. Why are we surprised. It’s what the Dems do.
The Obamas, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi - does anyone remember a generous comment or act from this group?
Two things. First of all, “The People’s House” refers to the House of Representatives. The original intent of the founders was that the House would be democratic, the senate would be the federalist voice of the states in congress, that the president would be elected by a short term, ad hoc body, the electoral college, instead of directly by popular vote.
As such, the White House is the “official residence and principal workplace” of the POTUS, though that is just the tip of the iceberg, the bulk of the executive work done in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, located just West of the White House.
The second thing is that Moochelle’s birthday party is totally paid for out of taxpayer money, and my point is that perhaps an entire year of White House tours could be provided instead; as they could for each of the endless vacations of the current occupants, also paid for by the taxpayers.
