As the Cline is roughly 9,800 square miles in size, this works out to estimated reserves in excess of 30 billion barrels.
These reserves could easily eclipse the Bakken (4.3 billion barrels according to conservative government estimates) and the Eagle Ford (3 billion barrels).

The Tuscaloosa Marine Shale runs across Louisiana, only problem with it is that it's deep.
A lot of it is at 15,000 ft.
From memory years ago on wells around Baton Rouge area, temps would be running 350+ at depth, needed special equipment to log (survey) wells.

only if you are drilling on the Sun ... That is why the drilling is done at night!

"The Tuscaloosa Marine Shale runs across Louisiana, only problem with it is that it's deep. A lot of it is at 15,000 ft." Back in the "Tuscaloosa Trend" days, they drilled that area for non-shale gas. Those wells were, I think, drilled to a similar depth. I remember the blowout around New Roads (Parlange well??) that burned for quite a while before they could extinguish it.

It's Peak Oil... Peak Oil, Peak Oil! ------------------------------------------------------
BTW. What ever happened to all the Wall Street Peak Oil guys who were running around a few years ago, and what is their lastest scam?

Worked for *Big Blue*, we weren't a hot hole location most of the time, but would catch a *Hell Job* every now a then.
Hated the heat test routine to prep. for a job.
What was even worse was when they decided to push regular equipment beyond ratings, lots of overtime before and after the fact, LOL.

I remember the blowout around New Roads.... Think I remember that one too, many moons ago.
Don't remember the particulars about it, what happened or who was involved.

Those hot holes play havoc on the electronics. Lots of failures downhole. Yep. anything over 290 seems to shorten tool life, and the pulsers seem to go out even quicker.

Oh come on! Solyndra made solar panels located here on Earth. I was making a comment about drilling temperatures on the Sun. Sheesh.
