As Gov. Martin OMalleys gun control proposal works its way through the Maryland General Assembly, gun rights activists already are preparing payback for those legislators who are allowing it through.
Patrick Shomo, president of Maryland Shall Issue, a gun rights group, said hes seen a movement in the gun rights community to register new voters in anticipation of the 2014 statewide election, and in some cases to switch membership from Republican to Democratic.

But soon the emphasis will shift, Shomo said, to fielding pro-gun rights candidates who can oust incumbents who voted for the gun bill.
Were going to be in their districts; were going to be in their bagel shops and dry cleaners talking to people, Shomo said.
If youre in a district in a place like Montgomery County and youre registered as a Republican, youre probably going to have to find a Democrat that you can support on this issue.

Uh... Maybe it’s too early in my morning, but I’m not getting it; what good will it do to switch from a Republican to a Democrat? Don’t Republican voters already get to vote in those districts? Is it a Primary thing?
Let’s add this up.
Baltimore is becoming the murder capital of the US. Maryland has some of the biggest taxes on the wealthy of any state....driving most of them to leave for Virginia. The amount of crime on the communities connecting to DC is escalating.
Why stay? I think they are simply setting up a California-east scenario in ten to fifteen years.
The term is SIciliano protectore
The criminal element in the anti-gun movement runs deep in Democrat ranks.
“If you’re in a district like Montgomery County... you are probably going to have to find a Democrat who supports..”
Did I read that right? A Dem in Monkey County that is pro-gun. ROTFLMAO... doesn’t exist. I would have an easier time finding a unicorn.
“Patrick Shomo, president of Maryland Shall Issue, a gun rights group, said hes seen a movement in the gun rights community to register new voters in anticipation of the 2014 statewide election, and in some cases to switch membership from Republican to Democratic.”
Did Shomo get this backwards? Did he really mean to say “from Democrat to Republican”? Just wondering.....
The idea is to vote as a Dem in the primary to hurt the reelection chances of the gun grabbing nutcases, picking their Dem opponents. The general population is overwhelmingly Dem, Pubs have virtually no representation. The only way to hurt them is to primary them out, and in MD, the primaries are closed, so you have to register as a Dem.
We’re all ‘rats now.
I cannot comprehend how these high-tax gun-confiscation think. Pure insanity. I would think that divide and conquer tactics were made to order.
Got it, thanks! :)
It's a Primary thing ... voters registered as Republicans have no influence on the Democrat candidate. Candidates running as Republicans have nearly zero chance of winning the election.
This is the Peoples' Glorious DemocRatic Republic of Maryland ...
Sounds like an idea.
The Republican party sucks right now anyway I may as well get a voice in the primary.
Okay, I see, now.
Here in Missouri, we just tell the poll workers whether we want a Dem., Rep., or Ind. ballot and they just give it to us.
Cheers!
Would be nice but I have no allusions - the Dims seem to carp a little when the government steps on them and when it comes time to vote, all is forgiven.
Not true.
I’m in Montgomery County, and in my row of five houses I’m the only Republican. But at least two of my neighbors are pro-gun, and one is a teacher.
So it happens.
“So it happens...”
Will your neighborhood Dem’s go against the Democratic party ticket for the 2nd amendment? I, too, have a ton of Dems in my neighborhood (and some Republicans). Even the Democratic gun owners are ready to relinquish their firearms... all for the children.. don’t you know. I am afraid that too many MoCo Dems choose party over their freedoms. Just my opinion.

Maryland “Freak State” BANG!
Maryland has closed primaries; you have to declare your party affiliation at the time you register. MD has 47 legislative districts which elect 1 senator and 3 “delegates” (state representatives) to Annapolis. At present at least 30 of these districts are solid ‘Rat with no hope of ever electing a GOP member. In the most recent legislative elections in 2010, the far left (the teachers’ union and SEIU, for example), primaried and defeated five incumbent ‘Rat senators and replaced them with even wackier liberal nutjobs. The current division in the Senate is 35-12 and 98-43 in the House in favor of the ‘Rats. If the 20% of the total voter population in ‘Rat districts who are GOP switched parties and voted in the ‘Rat primary, you might see a number of long-time wacko legislators get the boot. Once they get nominated, they can’t get beat.
You’d end up with people like the state senator from the Annapolis district, John Astle, who is pro-gun, pro-abortion and pro-sodomy.
