Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday responded to Paul in a letter that said the U.S. does not have the authority to conduct a drone attack against a U.S. citizen on American soil

They'll just have to keep killing U.S. citizens on American soil by less spectacularly visible methods.

Yeah - I would have widened out the subject. They did talk about it during the fillibuster, but it needs to be set in writing. Although it probably doesn’t matter. Some piece of paper isn’t going to stop them. Heck - the Constitution doesn’t stop them.

Holder actually said something quite different from what the article says. Here's what Holder's letter to Paul actually said:

"It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: 'Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?' The answer to that question is no." (Bolding added.)

The caveat "not engaged in combat" is a loophole big enough to fly a formation of drones through.

Then they lose some of the intimidation factor they were going for with the drone strikes. You would pay attention if your tea party neighbor got droned one night while you slept...

This does not mean that Obama will never use a drone against an American on American soil.

It just means that at this point in time he says he won’t.

But we all know what a liar he is.

My understanding is that the letter Holder sent to Paul said that the authority to kill US citizens on US soil would have to be evaluated and advised on a case-by-case basis . . . with Holder doing the evaluating and advising.

Is this correct?

That's bothering me. Senator Paul and everyone else are talking about drones. What about snipers? What about a Seal Team blowing up a meeting of radicals? We've got military units training in American towns. We had the military assist (I believe) in blowing up Americans in Waco.

You don't have to be Alex Jones to know that this is about more than drones.
