I find it FRightening that only one LEO (of the interviews I watched) mentioned acquiring and learning how to use a handgun or long gun. Could be they didn't mention firearms for liability reasons (afraid they'd get sued by a dead perp's surviving family members).

I don’t think so. I believe the pressure of Political Correctness causes LEOs to be reticent on this subject.
