I'm not sure this is helpful or wise, but I seldom take antibiotics. If I get the flu, I ride it out , taking in what I feel at the moment is best, maybe an aspirin, soup, laying around miserable.

I have problems with my knees due to an old car accident. I deal with it. Sometimes, yes, aspirin, heating pad, laying around..

Once, my closet hypochondriac husband and I had the flu at the same time, on his insistence, we went to the doctor together. He took his meds all of them. I did partake of the Z pak, but all those other little bottles of stuff, I threw them out.

Why? Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think people take way too many meds. The body can usually take care of itself in regards to non life threatening illness.

I want my body to be strong enough to fight all these drug resistant disease. Perhaps I'm going about it the wrong way? I don't know.

You’re immune system is like a muscle, use it or lose it....People are so concerned about germs they try to protect themselves from them at all times, which never allows their immune systems to develop to their full potential.

Kids are supposed to play in dirt.

Around 1983 I was a young healthy guy working in Western, Kansas. I came down with a really bad sinus infection.

The Dr. gave me erythromycin and in a few days I was just getting worse. I actually began to wonder if I might not get well. The Dr. told me to keep taking the first antibiotic and gave me a pile of Keflex samples. Within a few days I finally began to get better. We had a group meeting in Wichita and I decided to attend. After only one day I had a relapse and went to the emergency room at St Francis in Wichita.

The lady Dr. told my that I didn’t have a bacterial infection but she took a throat swab and came back about 10 minutes later and said I did have one. She then prescribed penicllin. I still remember the prescription said Pen tab VK. Well that was the magic bullet. Within 2 days I was totally well.

pain meds, even the OTC ones work the first time I take them but then it takes more and more and in a few days they do nothing and I feel like you know what. So I just ignore the pain and solder on. Not being brave, just resigned. I do take some hormone stuff and a very mild sleep aid. The rest is dreck.
