An unusually chilly March day and the snowstorm it spawned have shut down much of official Washington on Wednesday including a hearing House Republicans had called to examine global warming.
Postponed due to weather, read the notice from the House Science, Space and Technology Committee sent in the morning.
The hearing was scheduled to give House lawmakers a comprehensive briefing on how well scientists understand the climate and humans effects on it as a means to inform decision-making on potential mitigation options.
While the federal government reports that U.S. temperatures have been ticking up in recent years, freak cold snaps and storms often leave average voters questioning whether global warming is a real phenomenon.
The average high temperature in Washington for March 6 is 52 degrees, with a record high of 81 degrees in 1961 and a record low of 10 degrees in 1888.
Scientists argue that individual events are weather, while the broader trends constitute climate and they say the trend there is clear.

ha ha ha ha ha.. the best laid plans of mice and men.
Snow - imagine that.
Their meetings keep getting canceled due to "inclement" weather.
Wasn’t Alwhore’s Global Warming Conference snowed out last year? And didn’t Al then say the snowstorm and frigid temperatures were proof of Global Warming? I guess the heat has been turned up yet again.

Somebody needs to collate a list of all the meetings, conferences, and protests that have been canceled over the years due to snow. From my memory the list is quite extensive. Even, I think it was COP15, where Obunghole had to bug out. Then they thought they would get clever for I think it was COP16 in Cancun, and though it did not snow, they had record cold temperatures.
No it does not. Satellite temps have revealed no significant warming.
“Postponed due to weather”
Well, that’s still spin, and it’s not specific about what kind of weather.
The statement should have been, “Postponed due to big snowstorm”.
I think someone should “make a crack in the dam”, by offering an “anonymous amnesty” to scientists who at some point backed the global warming theory but now doubt it, but are afraid to come forward.
“We understand that you are afraid to publicly contradict what you have been ordered to believe, for fear of being punished for doing so. But this gives you an opportunity to “register your doubts”, so that when the theory collapses, you will be on the record for having tried to maintain your objectivity and scientific credibility before it was politic to do so.”
Then every week, put out a new number, real or fake, of scientists “who have expressed their doubts.”
It would drive the AGW crowd nuts.
They’re in luck. Because of global warming, this Nor’easter will be mixing in a lot of rain with the snow.
If I owned a ski resort, I would offer deep discounts to attract global warming conferences. Especially, during the shoulder season.

Could you repeat that? I’m not sure I heard you.
