'British rock guitarist Alvin Lee, a member of the band Ten Years After, has died aged 68.

His family announced on his official website that he unexpectedly died on 6 March following complications during routine surgery.

The Nottingham-born musician rose to fame after appearing at the Woodstock festival in 1969.

The band, who had eight Top 40 albums in the UK, had their biggest hit in 1971 with I'd Love To Change the World.

"We have lost a wonderful and much loved father and companion, the world has lost a truly great and gifted musician," said the statement from his wife and daughters.'

I will be damn.

I actually met him in Atlanta at Mylon Lefevre’s house in 78 or so

Smoked weed with him...before Mylon got born again

they both preferred the marching powder...whereas I was always a budman...no, not the beer

long story..sure can’t go into here

I did not realize he was English till I met him...lol...very prominent jaw...sorta Sean Bean-ish

I’m Going Home still rocks...I made my kids watch it...like this is hollow body guitar rock boys..not sissy hipster crap

and of course I’d Love to Change the World was a hippie anthem on par with Come on People Now or Long Time Gone

humanity moves on baby....I’ll be seeing ya Alvin...middle age is now about 60 degrees to port as I still make sail..no denying that...even my “younger” wife is only one birthday from 50

where the hell did it all go ya’ll?

Songwriters: ALVIN LEE

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, monopoly

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

World pollution, there’s no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

(yeah...the comments at the link are interesting, too.)

R.I.P. Alvin

Keith is still well with truly good Christian gal Patti

She is a rock for him

When she almost died they say he came apart

I understand that...i would too if i lost my rib

I remember her on Cosmo covers during the 80’s...models back then were real models, not like the trash that’s on the covers today. I’m glad to see rockers with good solid marriages.

I read Keith’s book “Life”, it’s amazing that despite all of the drugs and abuse, the guy is as sharp as a tack.
