Come on, everyone knew it wasn’t the video. You know what came to my mind when first I saw the news that day? “Hey, it’s 9/11, isn’t it?” And I’m just a suburban rube from flyover country lacking all manner of supersecret, special beltway insight.
The video was one of those lies we tell ourselves in full cognizance. Like that our enemies are jealous of our freedom, officeholders are “public servants,” and democracy works. Only more specific.
We didn't "know" it. But we suspected it...and there was no proof.
Now, there is.
That's a big deal.
The administration no longer has any defense for peddling outright lies to the American people for over two weeks.
Now, questions about why they lied are relevant. As are questions about who suggested the video as a potential excuse. And why?
A whole new can of worms, so to speak.
