Not "known", strongly "suspected".

Now it is confirmed. The administration had prior warning...and they knew from the git-go that it was al-Qaida, not a video.

Moreover, there is evidently something the survivors know that they don't want anybody else to know. They're being held on ice.

Some very damaging information here. But the only way it's getting out of the Senate Intelligence committee is via leak.

Just last month, Leon Panetta told the Senate:

"But there were no reports of imminent threats to U.S. personnel or facilities in Benghazi. Unfortunately, there was no specific intelligence or indications of an imminent attack on that - U.S. facilities in Benghazi. And frankly without an adequate warning, there was not enough time given the speed of the attack for armed military assets to respond."
