The elite banking families and their subsidiaries have lost perhaps a few pieces and parts of their assets here and there in wars, but generally, they have their assets protected. It's really rather simple: since they cause the crisis or war, they are able to move things around to keep them out of harm's way. For example, Allen Dulles, then of OSS and later of CIA fame, was nicely holed up in Switzerland for the duration of WWII, running CIA operations there. Can you see the possible conduits through the "front lines" that could have been facilitated by such operations ?

Ever wonder what possessed Hitler to think he could take on America if he had to ? Nothing. He thought Wall Street was backing him and so he would not have to. Ownership of stock of Standard Oil was put into tax-free foundations, that, while posing as "do-gooders", they actually are the mechanism by which things like the environmental movement are run. With billions of dollars behind them, and enormous political and societal influence, they easily can thwart the efforts of grassroots groups that oppose them.

One of the earmarks of new world order is technically legal tax avoidance, which is easy if you have enough influence with government to craft legislation to suit your own purposes.
