Sen. Reid to the Press: You Guys Have an Obligation to Report that Democrats Are Right February 28, 2013 By Elizabeth Harrington
(CNSNews.com) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that the news media have an obligation to report that the Republicans are unwilling to do what the American people want done on looming automatic, across-the-board budget cuts.
During a news conference on Capitol Hill held on the eve of implementation of the cuts, known on Capitol Hill as The Sequester, a reporter asked Reid: Can you understand the frustration of the American people that youre blaming the Republicans, the Republicans are blaming you and nobody is talking until the day that these cuts kick in?
Reid replied: You know I read an editorial today, and I dont know whether it was the Times or the Post, where the op-ed writer said, You know, lets call it the way it is. The Republicans arent willing to deal with the Democrats.
So all this stuff -- Democrats arent doing anything, Republicans arent doing anything --I believe that you guys have an obligation to report it the way it is, he said.
This isnt something that happened yesterday, weve been fighting this for a couple years, Reid added. Theyre unwilling to do what the American people want done. And its as simple as that.
Prior to his comments, Reid proposed dealing with sequestration in a balanced way by closing tax loop holes on the wealthy and asking millionaires to pay a little bit more.
I really believe the American people deserve better than what the Republicans in this building believe is the right thing, he said.

“I was shocked to hear a reporter on NBC nightly news with Brian Williams, on Wednesday night, said that this whole sequester business is a ‘manufactured crisis’.”
— That is because Obama said in a speech the same week, “We can’t go from manufactured crisis to manufactured crisis.”
Brian Williams is a tuning fork, getting the echo in synch.

You realize, of course, that your poster is an insult to the current manifestation of the real Russian Pravda?
As it stands today, Pravda is staunchly anti-communist, while the movers and shakers of the American "free" press defend leftism at every opportunity.
The irony is truly painful.

Harry and Nancy are examples of the insane emperors back in the days of sweethearts like Caligula. Back then they had the excuse of not knowing that storing wine in lead containers to make it taste sweeter would also make you nuts...

This isnt something that happened yesterday, weve been fighting this for a couple years, Reid added.
Senator Reid's Track Record on Spending:
FY 2008:
Revenue - $2524 Billion
Spending - $2982 Billion
Surplus or Deficit - $458 Billion DEFICIT
FY 2009:
Revenue - $2105 Billion
Spending - $3518 Billion
Surplus or Deficit - $1413 Billion DEFICIT
FY 2010:
Revenue - $2163 Billion
Spending - $3456 Billion
Surplus or Deficit - $1293 Billion DEFICIT
FY 2011:
Revenue - $2304 Billion
Spending - $3603 Billion
Surplus or Deficit - $1299 Billion DEFICIT
So over those four years of Pelosi and Reid's Congressional Leadership, they signed off on $4463 BILLION of money that we did not have! They did this right in the middle of a recession. The most outlandish numbers? In FY 2009, we took in $2105 BILLION (The lowest amount since 2004). We KNEW this number, yet we spent $3518 BILLION!!! And NOW we need to "raise revenue" to reverse our situation? NO! All "raising more revenue" will do is provide an excuse for spending even more!!!
We currently have baseline budgeting which means whatever SPENDING was for the previous year, that is where the budget STARTS for the next year. I would be for one of two things to happen immediately.
1) Do away with baseline budgeting
2) At least use REVENUE instead of SPENDING for the baseline with a maximum of a 10% deficit.

Only members of the Communist Party could be elected to the various posts. Stalin controlled party membership, and thus chose those people who liked and supported him and his position. Although the constitution was supposed to be democratic, it is obvious that Stalin had the real power. Stalin and the Communist Party tried to make themselves look good by recognising the rights of the people to free medical care, to work, to education and political rights, such as freedom of speech and freedom of press. However, all these “freedoms” had to be expressed according to Stalin’s and the party’s wishes.

a flat tax across the board on all earnings for EVERYBODY would end the tax dodge shell game this government plays. Preaching to the choir I know, but the current tax system is designed to grow the wealth of the very few at the top, reward corrupt politicians, manage and punish if necessary (SEQUESTRATION and the IRS's politically motivated audits) the common wage earners. How can anyone say this current system is at all fair when 47% of the working population receives government benefits but pay no tax and the GE corporation pays no tax (2011) but received a $2.2 billion return form the IRS? Facebook and Google got the same deal and paid for by us hard working folks. If the law of nature were applied, there would be a lot of folks who were and are responsible for this financial scam sitting in prison.

In the tax extension fight Dems were not whining about the MSM not doing their bidding?, like Reid is now.
And not in the debt limit fight.
In those fights the media made the crisis+GOP the story :
“Will the GOP compromise to avoid this Cliff?”
In this case partially because of the difference in the issues, and partially because O is re-elected, the MSM is not egging on the viewers on this to take sides.
Also, it is well known that the GOP tends not to like defense cuts.
So that makes this in-itself a GOP compromise when Obama is claiming they wont.
In the past two years the GOP in congress and POTUS candidates all demanded deficit reduction without any tax increases (or even more silly with tax cuts) and with no defense cuts either.
This was the GOP fantasy world, and you can see how well it served Romney.
