David Cameron is facing turmoil after a UKIP surge enabled the scandal-hit Liberal Democrats to cling on in the most crucial by-election battle for 30 years and pushed the Tories into a humiliating third place.
The Liberal Democrats held the South Coast seat of Eastleigh seat vacated by Chris Huhne - despite an unprecedented period of bad publicity over the Lord Rennard scandal and record lows in national opinion polls.

I guess the Brits know what UKIP is, since the article doesn’t bother to explain it. I looked it up.
United Kingdom Independence Party.
Libertarian, and they want to pull out of the EU.
And, by the way, we’ve had some really lousy Conservative Party leaders ever since Maggie Thatcher was given the boot. But I think David Cameron is the worst one yet.
Is he gay or something?
Well, Cameron went Left and got punished.
Gay marriage didn’t help him.
Thanks Perdogg.
Cameron isn’t gay. His leadership is.
If the Conservative Party were more well, conservative, they’d be winning landslides or rather, would have won last time big.
This is punishment for him being a sodomite-supporting jackass.
Republicans want to follow Cameron and then the Republican party will be dead.
The leader of UKIP is Nigel Farage, and he is a brilliant public speaker, in the style of the great English debating societies. He is riveting to watch.
There are lots of YouTube videos of him speaking at the European Parliament, and he is incredibly sharp tongued. Extremely persuasive, and if some other MEP tries to rebut him, Farage just slices and dices him rhetorically, in the grand style.
It is an irony that UKIP, because of the UK election system, cannot get seats in the British Parliament right now, but have many seats in the European Parliament, an organization they oppose and want England to leave.
But again, check out his vids. You will remember him.
Given the current crop of Tories I’m not surprised. Cameron makes Obama look manly.
