This may be of interest to you. I know you’re more aware of the good things going on in the background.

A week or so ago....the mayor was trying to warn the gov that there could be 1968 like riots in the event of a state take over. There is nothing left to burn down there, and if they decide to come to the suburbs......it will get very ugly/bloody.

I’d say it has two great potentials:

1. Thunderdome/Escape From New York it.

2. Nuke it from orbit.

So instead of going bankrupt, the state is going to pick up the tab?

That’ll teach ‘em.

There’s something about Dave Bing that I REALLY LIKE. Maybe it was that he could shoot some serious hoop. Who knows. In any case, I think Detroit elected a decent person to be mayor (compared to Coleman Young) and perhaps Bing could wind up playing a critical role in getting that city on its feet...assuming the state takes it over. Without the takeover, ANY mayor of Detroit is totally handcuffed.

Mistake.

If I were in charge, I would just deed Detroit to Zimbabwe.

Same song, different verse.

I knew Detroit was done when I saw pictures of closed schools with computers, school equipment and books wasting. I never knew why they did not put them to use instead of the schools being vandalized. I love to read and it made me sick to see all those books on the floors, broken windows which allowed rain to blow into the rooms. Why did they allow this? They could have given the stuff away if nothing else. There are people who would have loved getting these items.

Thanks for posting. Good luck Mayor Bing, Governor Snyder and the remaining great families, individuals and productive workers in Detroit. I hope Detroit has hit bottom after this announcement and the verdict on the greatest criminal in Michigan history.

With nothing more than a hunch, I think Detroit will be turned around, much to everybody’s (most everybody’s) surprise.

Every time I have read of a city manager coming in and voiding union contracts, et al, the city taken over has bounced back, amid the cries of doom and disaster of those who lost the gravy train. Because of Detroit’s location, if the gangs and takers are cleared out or subdued, I think it will rapidly move forward.

Note I said “IF”. Lotsa potential there in the right hands.

Good morning.

Many years ago, Laz, I, and a few others were going to invade Canada (you may remember). We made detailed plans from how we would do it, to distributing the spoils.

Canada heard about the plan, and were very worried. So they sent us an e-mail that stated, if they took Detroit off our hands, would we cancel the invasion.

We agreed.
