That is the essence of the long litany of horrors that Obama's mouthpieces state will happen if the sequester occurs - closing 100 airport towers, 90 minute delays due to lack of air traffic controllers, loss of border security, food shortages due to lack of USDA inspectors, etc. These are all choices, not absolutes. If we can't reduce the budget by 2.3% of the budget, leaving actual budgets higher than last year, then there is no hope of ever reducing anything the Left wants.

The “Left” is everywhere, walking to polling booths pushing the lever for anyone who promises the moon and condemns anyone who has a few dollars more than anyone else.
