Except for general information, why do we even need to know race? I thought the census was to determine how many people live in this country.
Exactly. There is no good reason for the census to include race or even sex anymore since neither of those factors have anything to do with determining population for the purposes of representation.
If anything it is just one more divisive thing used against the people as a whole, allowing politicians to scheme.
That’s why I refuse to answer that question. And if they’re stupid enough to think a German surname is anything but Caucasian, then screw ‘em.
