Almost reads as if you are describing the train noise that a Tornado can make, but at a less intense scale. Maybe you did have some rotating clouds over head, but they were rotating in the horizontal plane. How long did the sound last ?
About three hours my guess. I took note they ended 11pm but not exactly when they started.
