Landau: If Terrorists Want to Starve Themselves, Let 'Em
Arutz Sheva ^ | 25/2/13 | David Lev

Posted on 02/25/2013 11:27:41 AM PST by Eleutheria5

Water and Energy Minister Uzi Landau – who has a rich defense background, having served in the past as Public Security Minister – said that Israel should respect the wishes of terrorists who preferred to starve themselves, and not try to figure out ways to convince them to eat. “This hunger strike and the riots in their wake is just another provocation by the Palestinian Authority,” he said. “We must not panic.”

Speaking to Arutz Sheva Monday, Landau said that the PA was going out of its way to cause riots, as a “greeting,” and a message, to U.S. President Barack H. Obama, due here for a visit in several weeks. “The riots in 'protest' over the prisoner who died in Megiddo Prison are just a pretext,” he said. “They would have found another reason to riot had he not died.” Landau said that the PA has never honored the agreements it signed with Israel, and has constantly promoted terror by honoring terrorists, naming streets and squares after them, providing them with pensions, etc.

Landau said that Israel must meet the current challenge “without blinking. We must tell our friends in the U.S. and Europe that despite all our efforts, the PA still refuses to meet us for talks, and that pressure on us just encourages them to continue in their refusal.” In any event, he said, Israel must continue to respond with force when Arab rioters use force. “If we back down they will never stop their rioting,” he said.

Regarding the hunger strikers, Landau said that if they felt like not eating, Israel should leave them be. “Let them refuse to eat in good health...We cannot release terrorists because they are on a hunger strike. We cannot make a mockery of ourselves.”

Once you’ve put the food in front of them, you’re done. They’ll either eat or they won’t. Not your problem, not even your business really. If they want to go collect their 72 virgins for killing Christians and Jews, let them!!!!

It is only a problem for you if you wish it to be. Don’t Jews have enough problems just surviving without getting all worried, perplexed, upset, tied-into-knots over silly crap like this?

Stop fretting so much, go out and build some more houses, schools, industries, universities, and pizza parlors.

These “hunger strikes” are nothing more than publicity stunts. Basically all they do is to refuse to eat between meals.

At least the IRA had the balls to starve themselves to death... And what did it accomplish? Nothing. Margaret Thatcher stood firm and didn’t give in. Those who starved themselves to death won nothing for their cause.

Actually, one of my wife’s aunts starved to death in a nursing home that took that attitude. If it’s good enough for Aunt Bertha at Shady Rests, it’s good enough for a freakin’ terrorist whom international law says ought to be dragged out and shot like a dog anyway.

Let’s not be cruel or anything. If they prefer to eat nothing, then at LEAST plates with nothing on them, cups and utensils should be supplied. Paper and plastic, of course.

There are several things that can be done to terrorists captured by Israel. The first thing is create “secular incarceration”, with no respect for their religious demands at all.

No Halal food, no beards, prison uniforms, individual prayer in cells only. If and when they die, they are buried on prison grounds, with just an ID marker over the site, and no ritual. Family notification of death within one month after death.

If prisoners wish to starve themselves, they can do so in solitary confinement with no press release or notification to other prisoners. At random, one of a group of hunger strikers will be force fed with highly nutritious food, like bacon grease and pasta, to the point where they obviously gain weight.
