We need to put our money where are mouths are and stop buying from any company that sells to LEO in gun grabbing states.

Agreed. I am in the market for a high-powered rifle and have dropped the Remington 700 line out of consideration because they seem to be choosing to stay in New York.

I need to send them a letter to that effect.

FYI — The offical sidearm of the New York State Troopers is the Glock 37 (.45 GAP and each patrol car carries a Rem 870 Shotgun (or at least they used to). The NYS SWAT/ESU primarily uses Cold AR-15 and Savage 10.

The official/approved sidearms for the New York City Police Department are Glock, Sig, and S & W. The shotgun of choice is the Mossberg 590 and the SWAT/ESU units use Colt AR-15’s.

New York State — being the police state that it is — has multiple, overlapping law enforcement departments at the Federal, State, and Local Level, each of which has the aurthority to independently procure and issue weapons for their members. Although I don’t have the time or resources to research and verify the waepons currenlty used by each department, I’m willing to bet that based upon this list, Glock, Sig, S & W, Barretta, Colt, Mossberg, and Remington arm 98% or more of the LE departments in New York.

In case you are curious, here is a list of the LE departments with overlapping jurisdiction (in the suburban NYC county where I live), at the local, state, and federal level: Town Police, County Police, County Sheriff, DEP Police, DEC Police, Mental Hygiene Police, MTA Police, Amtrak Police, Port Authority Police, Corrections Police, Office of Court Administration Police, State University Police, NYS Parks Police, NYS Troopers, USCG, FBI, ATF, DEA, DHS, TSA, US Marshal’s, and US Park Police. The officers of each of the federal, state, amd local LE departments have “peace officer” status under New York law, which means they are allowed to carry a weapon off-duty without the need for a CCW permit and have the power to make arrests outside of their department’s official jurisdiction. (Here’s an exhausive list of police officers and peace officers in NYS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_enforcement_in_New_York#Persons_designated_as_police_officers.)
