'The Afghan president has ordered US special forces to leave Wardak province within two weeks over allegations of disappearances and torture.
The measures were being taken due to the actions of Afghans considered to be part of US special forces, said a spokesman for Hamid Karzai.
The strategically significant, central province of Wardak has been the recent focus of counter-insurgency operations.
A US spokesman said it took all allegations of misconduct seriously.'

In a just world, the next headline would read:
“U.S Forces remove Taliban Sympathizer Karzai from Kabul”
Screw Afghanistan. Those feral knuckledraggers aren’t worth a single drop of American blood. It’s long been established we’re not allowed to win there, so what is being accomplished at this point? Pull our guys out from from that diseased hellhole... Now!!
In retrospect we should’ve aided the Soviets in the 1980s, rather than countered them. That nasty Afghan hellhole doesn’t deserve a place on a map.

Interesting thought but chances are Afghanistan would have still ended up under Taliban control when the Soviet Union collapsed so the results would have been the same.

Just set up an impenetrable base there. Like Gitmo in Cuba. This way we are close to the enemy and can perform surgical special operations.
If they don’t like it, too bad, they can pound sand.

Yes, let’s do whatever Karzai says. Good old Karzai, who threatened to join the Taliban in 2010, and has been taking Iranian money for years. A lie goes out against US troops, Karzai says “get out”, and US troops (and officers!) have to obey due to the liberal agenda. Brilliant.
The place is lost.
Not worth any more money nor blood.
Why?
Because there are no “good guys” to support.
The Taiband are bad guys of extremist morality (but at least USA Liberal women love them for their enlightened views of women as evidenced by the Liberal women groups total lack of criticism).
The current Afgan Govt is bad because of its near total corruption and ineffectiveness not to mention it having a President already sold out to the Taliband as evidenced by his actions.
One of the reasons South Vietnam lost was similar. The North Viets were focused and dedicated, willing to sacrifice. The South Viets were corrupt, selling US military aid to the enemy, stealing supplies/money from their own troops, etc etc. So the average South Viet peasant just wanted everyone to go away and leave them alone...but came to lack support for the South Viet govt. Plus the little matter of the USA Dems cutting South Vietnam off from military aid when the North was ready to invade.
The joke... and a very sick one... is the notion something good will some emerge from that unending quagmire our troops are being forced to slog through.
I would much rather have seen Afghanistan as a Soviet SSR than the irreparable mess it is today.
That is insane, our bringing down the Soviet Empire was a fluke, it took everything that we could do to narrowly pull that off and supporting the Soviet Union in the Afghan war and her strategic goals is insane.
No, Reagan was correct to fight against the Soviet Union, not with them.
