North Korea on Sunday warned the top U.S. military commander stationed in South Korea that his forces would "meet a miserable destruction" if they go ahead with scheduled military drills with South Korean troops, North Korean state media said.

Pak Rim-su, chief delegate of the North Korean military mission to the inter-Korean truce village of Panmunjom, gave the message by phone to Gen. James Thurman, the commander of the U.S. Forces Korea, KCNA news agency said.

My S Korean friend has never been concerned about the the North. We get more worked up over them than they do if she is representative of the prevailing sentiment. She sees them as desperate and only seeking concessions and food and money the only way they know— through blackmail. I'd characterize her thoughts on NK even as nonchlanat. Of course, SK can be fractious too and I'm sure others have an entirely different POV.

My concern is that they may become so desperate they follow through on their threats directly or outsource the business end of their terror. That's my main worry.

Here’s my suggestion. Send up some guy from the state department...give a complete “we surrender” document. List out the things that we will surrender: (1) 600 tons of Oregon mulch, (2) two hundred cases of Bud Lite, (3) twelve thousand tons of pumpkins which will come after harvest season, (4) all of the Micheal Jackson video collection, (5) a free Burger King franchise, (6) a hundred cases of Windex, and a signed copy of the President’s Sequestration plan.

Then to emphasize that we aren’t joking....actually direct all US troops to leave South Korea within four months.

My greatest idea is with proper stimulant the entire country of N. Korea could be enticed to run for the border of china. A mass migration. If many of the military were to join the masses in flight by taking up arms to flee to china, the world a breather from the helplessness and futility of working with N. Korea, and force china to accept responsibility for their actions. Only the proper stimulant is lack. Should the world back away completely the stimulant, am speaking of, may self-manufacture itself within the military and general population.

This article (the lead on Drudge this morning) caught my eye, as I am currently reading The Demon in the Freezer, a 2003 book about Smallpox. He says in passing that North Korea may have gotten some of the USSR’s genetically modified Smallpox. It is horrifying stuff, hardened against all antibiotics and with a likely death rate of 90% plus. http://www.amazon.com/The-Demon-Freezer-True-Story/dp/0375508562/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1361641772&sr=1-1

“How serious a threat is North Korea?”

As serious as a lunatic with Tourette Syndrome and a double-barreled shotgun: batshit crazy, mouths off continuously, and is armed just enough to be freaking dangerous to someone but not enough to survive the response.

An awesome list, a workable plan... but it does bring something similar to mind...

What do you want from life?

How is this different from the last 30 years...?

They’re ALWAYS screaming about this —Sea of Fire, bathe you in flames, utterly destroy you for eternity, blah, blah, blah...

It never changes —I’d be more concerned if they suddenly stopped all this and were nice.

THAT would be REALLY scary, somehow.

Here is the only NK thread we really have to worry about TODAY:

NK helps Iran, which is helped by Venezuela. So TODAY there are NK-derived missiles at a base on the southern center portion of the Paraguana Peninsula, which juts out into the Carribean via a short land bridge.

The base is next to the big water tower on the median where route 4 intersects one of two prominent roads going due north, up the peninsula (there’s fuel in the tower).

They can hit Florida TODAY, and Obama knows it but does nothing.

Send little Kim our whole porno industry, that will keep his mind occupied and he’ll be no threat to anyone. He may end up being the world’s first blind leader.

Sumpin’s happening around Baby Kim the Gay leader.
Keep in mind that those generals he’s got, those he hasn’t yet ‘obliterated’ (if that’s the word they use there) are old enough to remember his grandpa and his militant ways.
