In 2007, Sen Bob Menendez (D-NJ) introduced a Senate bill, The Glaucoma Screening Act, that proposed $10 million in federal grants to firms that would have acted--- in part---to expand eligibility to "Hispanics-only" who are at risk of glaucoma.
Menendez donor and sex-procurer Salomon Melgens Miami-area eye clinic treats many Latinos who makeup a majority of the area's population. It was not specifically cited in the Menendez bill whether Melgen would have benefited.
Menendezs spokeswoman Tricia Enright noted that Menendez had a long history of working with the "Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus," whose leader asked the senators staff to introduce the bill.
Irregardless of Menendez's suckup, the legislation never made it out of the Senate committee. (excerpted AP report on The Daily Caller)
