The Mexican government adopts one, very smooth, tone when speaking to its patsies in America---vote-crazed US pols---- and another, very militant, tone when speaking to its own people about its ruthlessness in pursuing its own national interest at the expense of ours.

EXCERPT Mexico has never been a friend of the US.Ask Texas Valley old timers about the “WW 11 days” in South Texas and you’ll get stories and tales, enough to fill a book. South Texas was a hot-bed of conspiracies, real and present dangers, and a direct war-time threat to the US. Apparently the concerns were not without foundation.
For one, the political climate in Mexico was extremely volatile. Agents of the German war machine were known to be active throughout Mexico (with the knowledge and consent of the Mexican govt).
Nazi Germany was the leading importer of Mexican oil, taking just over half of their annual production....... To counter, American oil and gas production in Texas and Louisiana was elevated. Port Isabel's large oil refinery was a shipping point for fuel headed to the war, and was considered a possible target for German U-boat shelling or even a shore scurry.
