“Correction, it is NOT a CUT. It is a reduction in the rate of growth (you remember baseline budgeting). Even after the sequester is fully implemented, we will end up spending more in 2013 than we did in 2012. It is NOT a freaking CUT!!!

With all due respect, people who having been saying this are flat out wrong. DOD has been operating on continuing resolutions for years now. Each of these is 6 months long (2 per fiscal year). For the first half of FY 2013 we have been operating at FY 12 expenditure levels and now are being told that for all FY13 our expenditures must be at 2010 levels. So not only do we have to cut for the second half of FY13, we must make additional cuts to “give back” the 2012 level money that was already spent in the first half of FY13.
This whole “there are no real cuts happening” storyline is pure BS.
The sequester didn’t cut. It’s the continuing resolution that has cut.
If it wasn’t for the continuing resolution, the sequester wouldn’t be a cut, and wouldn’t be causing trouble.
The republicans wouldn’t have cut defense in the CR, the democrats forced it as payment for an agreement.
The republicans just do a bad job of pointing out how all these choices are the democrat choices.
No offense, but I was talking about overall federal spending. How the Feds decide to spend it is not within the control of us peons. My statement still stands as fact. In 2013 the federal government will spend slightly more than what was spent in 2012. If the idiots in Washington simply stopped giving away money to foreign governments, selectively reduced the number of government employees through attrition only, stopped the giveaways to senseless unconsitutional spending (global warming, green energy, grants to study stupid crap like the one-eyed green lizard, and actually put people in jail for fraud/abuse along with restitution, then they could focus on entitlements. Next thing you know, there would be a budget surplus in no time.
