The fact is that things are looking a lot brighter for Detroit than they have in a long time and its because Detroit is increasingly under the control of republican held state government. Big money buyers are buying up the riverfront for development within easy reach of the new bridge.

Think out of the box CC....

What if...

The "Antrim" Shale Formation is not just out by Jackson and is all SE Michigan like some maps I have seen show it.

What if their is gobs of Natural Gas under Detwaa? Long story about a friend of a friend who is out at Bakken in regards to this thought..

We know the antrim formation contains gas and oil under all of lower Michigan. Now we need to lift that idiotic and pointless great lakes directional drilling ban. There is definitely some oil under Detroit in fact every single county in lower Michigan has wells.

A Canadian company bought and reopened the salt mine and the state legislature has changed the tax structure of mining operations to make it easier to operate.

I was watching a video of Rick Snyder at the Detroit chamber of commerce and they were saying some very interesting things about what they would like to do. Basically what these big corporate heads were saying was "Give us a favorable business environment, and we'll rebuild Detroit."

People need to understand that Detroit is in a unique and near perfect spot for business. Its in the heart of industrial America with infrastructure designed for heavy industry with the heart of Canadian industry right across the river. Its the second busiest freight crossing on the continent.

Big business is not blind to the growth of upper midwest mining, the confluence of freight transportation arteries, and attractive business partners across the river. Now that the second bridge will be built, shippers are already celebrating the fact that the bottleneck will be eased.
