Mindy McCready, who hit the top of the country charts before personal problems sidetracked her career, has died. She was 37.
Waren Olmstead, the coroner in Cleburne County, Ark., said in a statement McCready died Sunday apparently of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy is pending.
Just last month David Wilson, McCreadys boyfriend and the father of her 9-month-old son Zayne, was found dead on the same porch where McCready's body was found. His death also was investigated as a suicide.
McCready entered court-ordered rehab earlier this month after her father told a judge she was no longer taking care of herself or her children and was abusing drugs and alcohol. Her sons were put in foster care at the time, but it's not clear where Zander and Zayne were at the time of McCready's suicide.

May she be submerged in the ocean of God’s mercy.
Obviously she had no peace with herself in this world, may she have peace in the next.
Never heard of her.
Like all other forms of popular music today the singers need to be beautiful. I remember ‘listening’ to country and rock in the 50s and 60s and not knowing what most of them looked like save the few like Elvis or the Beatles.
Much of the music was GREAT. Because no one knew or cared what they looked like.
“Never heard of her”
Me neither; nor her music. RIP.
Another one of Dr Drew’s Celebrity Rehab failures.
He’s lost a lot of them.
I feel sorry for her children.
Bible isn’t really big on suicide. It’s a tool used by the other side, it’s also never the answer regardless of the circumstances.
I feel terrible for those boys and the rest of the family.
I guess locking her away for her own good never occurred to them.
Never heard of her either and I am a country and western fan.
Sadly, those places are long, long closed down.
Unfortunately rehab fails more than it’s successful. But for those who have success, the transformation can be a miracle. My husband is an example of this.
Addictions are terrible things to try to overcome. This is very sad.
They still have them but they are more like prisons. There is one in Marion Va.
Hospitals usually have psych wards
True, the hospitals have them, but they have limited time stays. Look for it to get worse under Obama care.
Most people do not realize that even the best and expensive rehab facilities, such as Hazelton, are only successful 18% of the time. Atleast that is what I have heard Don Imus state and read in books.
Congrats to your husband and your family.
may she find the peace and understanding that she did not find in this life
Experiencing this now, I thank God that your husband has found his way way from Satan grasp.
I wish someone in her life would, could, should make her see that suicide was not the answer.
I pray for the survivors and for her soul
Guess I am old school. I’m a music fan. No particular genre.
Have stuff from classical, WW II swing, 50s through 70s rock and country
I foresaw music becoming vapid pop with the emergence of MTV and other forms of music videos.
How one looks is now more importance than the music.
