There’s a really big racial angle here, but conservatives are generally not comfortable talking about it.
Conservatives simply need to talk smart about it and encourage gun ownership among responsible blacks. They need to be reminded of the racist democrat roots of gun control.
In places like Detroit there is an extremely high rate of lawful defensive shootings and those are almost exclusively blacks defending themselves. Obviously the crime rate is high or there wouldn’t be so many defensive shootings but I suspect the crime rate will fall considerably given enough time.
As far as police presence is concerned, the fewer the better because fewer police “should” be a desired result of civilized society.
