Bulleit is a fine choice. Also their new rye makes for an excellent Manhattan.
Very dumb marketing.
The way you deal with a shortage is to raise the price and let the market allocate scarcity.

Like Champaign, if it ain't made in Kentucky it ain't Bourbon. NOT TRUE! Bourbon, can LEGALLY be produced ANYWHERE, as long as the rules are followed.
A damned fine brew is being prepared for sale now in Houston.... just waiting for the aging to be done...

“How many bourbon drinkers enjoy their Makers Mark without ice cubes?” Etc.
I for one. Neat only.
Luxury products are worthy because of consistent premium quality. Cutting corners wrecks the brand.
There’s a lot of other bottles on those upper shelves...

I bought a bottle of Bulliet (sp?). I havent tried it yet. Rest assured, you won't be disappointed....unless you're a wuss!
To: carriage_hill
Last week, it said it was lowering the amount to 42 percent, or 84 proof, because of a supply shortage. If they were so concerned, they could have simply sold it only in smaller bottles until production caught up.

They had other options instead of watering-it-down. That was truly a dumb move to consider.

Three passes through the still corn liquor (XXX)is so powerful it is anhydrous and just pulls the water out of your tongue.. not a pleasant feeling. Strength aint everything. Perhaps, but the added value of high octane hooch is that it allows the consumer to add water to suit his or her personal taste. For me, one drop added to freshly poured The Balvenie scotch is just right.

“I enjoy Makers Mark but if I want a stiff one my preference is 100 proof Knob Creek.”
I too am a Makers Ambassador. But if I want the smoothest, with more than 100 proof (barrel proof) bourbon out there, it will be Bookers. And if it can’t be enjoyed as a ‘neat’ sipping whisky, it isn’t going to suit my palet.

“No water for me but just a single ice cube.”
Your ‘single ice cube’ is water. If you want it cold, but still want it neat, keep the bottle in the freezer...and smooth it is!

I too am a Booker's fan. My son gave me a bottle for Christmas that ran 130 proof and it suffers a bit in the flavor department. He did not know that Booker's varies in proof by the barrel but in the future we will look for the 120 to 127 only (I prefer it closer to the 120). I use whiskey stones simply because it taste a bit smoother with a little chill but I'm not about to add water.

Try putting it in the freezer sometime...nice if you want it chilled...really smooths it out (not that Booker’s needs much smoothing)
