As to steroids: didn’t he just compete in the Olympic games and wouldn’t he have been tested for such (more easily detected than other forms of doping)? As to the rest: my first guess was that she dumped him and he wasn’t acceptive to the rejection.

I don't know whether the ParaOlympic competitors are screened as much as Olympic competitors nor do I know how long steroids are detectable. On the other hand, there are many studies showing that steroid use and abuse has a serious downside, including but not limited to violence and spousal abuse.

The first stage, which was considered mild, and effects were seen very early on, were: changes to euphoria and mood (i.e., boost in self-esteem and confidence), irritability, agitation and feelings of being on edge. The second stage of mental effects would usually be seen after long-term use of steroids or when the dosage had been increased, but the effects were as follows: lack of judgment and loss of inhibition; mood swings and grandiose ideas.
