Why Did McCain Rescue Hagel?
The American Spectator ^ | 2/17/13 | Aaron Goldstein

Why on earth did John McCain just rescue Chuck Hagel’s nomination? Why did he go on Meet the Press this morning to say that Chuck Hagel was going to get confirmed as Secretary of Defense? McCain argued that Hagel had the votes to be confirmed and that he didn’t want the process to be delayed further. But if that is the case then why did Bob Woodward go on Fox News yesterday to say that Democratic Senators were calling the White House to ask when Hagel was withdrawing? Now I doubt Woodward would have dropped that tidbit if there wasn’t sufficient discord

Why in the hell is McCain the "go to" guy in the GOP anyway?

His days of "the MAVERICK John McCain" ended with the 2008 election........We've never heard that moniker since........

Because McCain is a plant. Like all plants, it is required that sometimes he exhibit behavior that makes you think he actually is what he says he is, and isn’t a plant. This is calculated. But when the time comes for something important to take place, he is called upon to do what he is there to do - advance the agenda of the left.

RIGHT ON! This also is what 95% of the (R)s have & will continue to do.

Your point?

Same point made when McCain was the candidate. Conservatives should have stayed home in large numbers in the general election. In the primary, they should not support a candidate just because the candidate that truly represents conservative politics is viewed as not electable.

There will be no effect conservative movement until it lays down the gauntlet. That is withholding a vote for the likes of McCain.

So having a Socialist like Obama in the White House is preferable to a RINO?

I’m sorry, but I just don’t follow your logic...

No, because conservatives did not make a stand, we have Obama in the White House. The GOP put up an unelectable candidate because it did not feel it needed to take in conservatives.
