That is how it seems to be shaping up.
This area of upstate NY (along both sides of the Mohawk River) has always been a hotbed of anti-Royalist, patriotic sentiment. These are rural people who really, really distrust and loathe the large urban areas, and for good reason. Over the years they have been heavily taxed and regulated and essentially been thrust into increasing poverty for the good pleasure of the corrupt city politicians and their parasite masses. Their once thriving industries and farms have been shut down, gutted, and impoverished by burdensome regulations and taxes. These are heavily Republican areas, but greatly outnumbered by the teeming Liberals downstate. Remington Arms are made at Ilion, right in the center of this region.
The Tryon County Militia was instrumental in the Revolutionary War battles in upstate New York. They suffered 70% casualties in the Battle of Oriskany, but stopped the cutting of NY in pieces by the British. It appears they are starting to "muster" again.
“It appears they [upstate NY’ers] are starting to “muster” again.”
We’re doing the best we can with what we’ve got to work with. We WILL need all the support we can get. Please don’t write us off just because we’re from NY.
