Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says that he is hopeful that making the combat roles of women official will create a greater environment of respect for women, which in turn may have an impact on instances of sexual harassment and assault.
I believe it's because we've had separate classes of military personnel, at some level, he said at a press conference Thursday.
General Dempsey was quick to add that sexual assault is far more complicated than that but when you have one part of the population that is designated as warriors and another part that's designated as something else, I think that disparity begins to establish a psychology that in some cases led to that environment."
I have to believe, the more we can treat people equally, the more likely they are to treat each other equally.
It is a sentiment that is echoed among advocates for victims of sexual assault.
When you have legalized discrimination against women, theres no doubt in my mind that theres a link there, says Anu Baghwati, a former company commander in the Marine Corps.
I experienced it firsthand as a woman officer in the Marines. Theres a constant reminder by your peers that youre not as strong, youre not as competent, which is not based on your actual, but your perceived performance, she says. And I think women would doubt themselves a lot less.
Critics of women in combat express concerns, however, that the move could actually make women more vulnerable to sexual assault by putting them in closer contact with men in situations where they will have little privacy.

Watching Generals succumb to the blackmail of either selling liberal social engineering, or retiring, is a very sad state of affairs.
The General does NOT believe the claptrap he’s been ordered to sell.
This will only increase the problem created by feminism in the first place. The solution, of course, will be more idiocy; a weakened military; and the triumph of our enemies.
Suicide.
Plain and simple.

That was true in one unit I was in for many years. We had several lesbians and they always tried to hit on new transfers that were female.
On paper Israel has one of the most gender-neutral militaries in the world, but the complex realities behind the policies of the Israel Defense Forces, where it remains rare for women to kill or be killed, and questions persist about their fitness. Israel carries out a different system and military than do we, likely more efficient and combat ready.
Also remember that Israel has simpler, but more discriminating airport check procedures compared to the USA's humiliating and mindless checks where your grandmother or a toddler are treated as though they pose as great a risk as a Muslim who paid cash for a one way ticket, but who seems to be more likely to get through because of worries about profiling accusations and lawsuits by CAIR.
Unfortunately that's not the case. Dempsey has been baptized at the Fabian altar of Duke University. He's very much an inside social engineer.
For our side. probably not. For the other side, definitely not.
Yes, I miss the obvious most of the time.
I miss the obvious some of the time myself though I try hard not to.
