That would be neat, but how fast does that drop off past 100 yrds?

The velocity boost should also translate to more impressive terminal performance at longer ranges. Though the .17 HMR has proven to be a very accurate round, its knockdown power on even moderate-size prairie dogs at 100 yards is just so-so.

Meh...

Nosler 225gr Accubond zeroed @ 200 only drifts about 1.75" in a 10PMH 90 degree crossing wind. It doesn't drift as much as this .17 until around the 375 yrd mark. At 500 yrds it's about a 37" drop and still cooking along at about 2200 fps carrying about 3300 ft-lbs of energy.

Zero it for 400 and it stretched to a 1000 yrds easily. It'd work great on a p-dog. Better on large thin skinned game...

For a smaller round, I have an accurized AR that prints clover leafs at 100. It's almost a BR rifle at this point and "tactically" useless. I have other toys for that.
